I've heard it in February at a talk about mental health and I've heard it last Thursday in a webinar about how to control your future: Hope.
With this feeling of hope I left my flat this morning and put my purse into my pocket - just in case. I usually go for a run only with my iPod (yes, an iPod!) and my headphones. No phone, no purse.
Today though, my purse was laying there and I thought I might hit Sainsbury's on my way home. And maybe, I thought, Doppio might be open and I could get a coffee. It might be. I had hope.
Around 6.30am I approached out of breath the end of the road and turned left, walking by now, towards Sainsbury's and Doppio. There was the delivery truck outside of Sainsbury's, so I doubted that they were open. The coffee shop also looked close, but I still had hope and walked closer.
I saw the sign.
WE ARE OPEN - FROM 9AM TO 5PM.
Obviously, I was too early, but I couldn't believe my luck! There is coffee available out there! There is a shop that offers take away coffee during this time of lockdown! I was running home to tell my boyfriend. He's still sleeping so he either finds out when he reads this post or I tell him as soon as he wakes up. I cannot believe my luck. The only thing I need to work out are the opening hours. Those are the hours I am working - from home. And the shop only allows one customer at the time inside, so I expect queues. As I don't think I am the only one wanting a coffee.
You see guys, it's all about hope. As long as we don't lose hope, we'll manage. We'll get through it. It's vital to survive.
So, no matter how bad you feel or how down you are or how much you want something, always hope. If you give up hope, you already lost.
