It was 7.36 am when I left the house, mask on and heading to the bus stop. Citymapper showed that the bus 345 to Peckham would depart in exactly 0 minutes. I ran to the bus stop. The first time in over a year, I chased a bus to get somewhere.
The ride was quick and the bus dropped me right outside the coffee shop I wanted to go to: Brickwood Coffee & Bread . I spotted it the other day I was in Clapham Common and it was time today to go back to the Common.
I crossed the street, headed inside and while the customer before me was served, I had a look around the place and immediately fell in love with it. The wooden tables, the lamps, the cute little flowers on the tables - everything gave just this nice atmosphere you won't find in mainstream coffee shops. That's why I love the independent ones!
Once it was my turn, I ordered my oat latte and my eyes got caught up on the banana bread in the display. Lately, I am all over banana bread and I could not resist and had to order a slice. When I ate it later at home, I was very happy I made the choice to buy it. It was delicious!
My coffee was being prepared and I found myself chatting to the baristas about the past half-year, busy days and the latest Disney movies. Apparently, the latest one is not a bad one :-)
After a few more minutes of waiting, I got my cup and I left the shop with a smile on my face. I even had time to walk back home and less than halfway on my walk, I finished the coffee and wished I had ordered a large one. It was too good!
I can't help to say it, but also this place will be a shop I am happily going back to!
PS: sorry for my nails! A hectic week that didn't allow me to prep my hands for those pictures!
