Bahamas Atmosphere in Liverpool

Updated: Mar 1, 2022

A dry morning, the sun rising behind our building and me, ready to head to a coffee shop I know would be open! I did my research after last week's disaster. When I googled opening hours for coffee shops in the area, Lucaya Cafe popped up first, so I headed there top motivated this morning.

Combining the walk along the riverside, enjoying the morning tranquillity of this city and getting all the feel-good vibes, I arrived shortly after eight and entered a room fully decorated with plants and the smell of freshly pressed orange juice. Immediately I was greeted by the barista - I must have looked a bit lost.

Still looking around I walked over to the till and ordered an oat latte, just guessing that they offered this option. I only saw the menu after I paid - it's listed above the till, hidden behind the hanging plants. Some music was playing in the background and I instantly felt calm. A nice spot to start your day.

They have plenty of seating space, fancy-looking tables with all sorts of prints on them, comfy couches and seats and it looks like a lovely place to chill before a hectic day starts or comes to an end. Lucaya is the name of an area of Freeport, the largest town on the Grand Bahama Island and with this little oasis they created, they definitely bring the island atmosphere to Liverpool.

Later, I also found out, that Lucaya is the sister cafe of Rococo, which is located in the centre of Liverpool. I've been there once, before our flight to Palermo, so it was all a bit rushed and I will be sure to head there too when I have a bit more time.

They both are lovely cafe's and of course if they serve Oatly as Lucaya does, they get an extra point on my coffee list too. 😉
