Discovery-Thursday

We have a plan, we stick to the plan.

This is what I told my boyfriend once and we made it our little mantra, whenever the word "plan" came to our minds. But sometimes plans change, right? Maybe the weather is different than what you expected it to be, and you make a new plan. Or the road is blocked with traffic and you need a new plan to reach our destination.

Or, like today, you realised you promised something, so you adjust your plan. I declared Thursdays to my new coffee shop discovery days as it's usually when my workout app gives me a day off, but I still want to move. So I came up with this brilliant idea of heading outside, going for a walk and explore new (and most of the time old) coffee shops within my radius.

I woke up, dressed and really craved a tasty croissant from Suzette Battersea. But then I walked into the kitchen and saw the overloaded Nespresso Recycling bag (yes, we DO drink A LOT of coffee!!) and I remembered the promise I made to my boyfriend that I will return it to one of the click and collect shops myself. And that promise was made last Saturday ...

The Londis, where we can drop it off, is right next to Story Works ... the thought of their delicious granola cookie and creamy oat latte came to my mind, and I thought I can swap Suzette with Story Works for once. I packed up the bag, wrapped myself in warm clothing and headed out.

Londis is situated between Story Works and The Birdhouse, a coffee shop I've walked past sooo often, but never ever stepped a foot inside. After dropping the used Nespresso capsules off, I was so tempted to grab a coffee and the cookie from Story Works, however, I remembered what I declared my Thursdays for and therefore I paid the Birdhouse a visit. I turned to my right and ordered a large oat latte. They nicely display the sizes of the coffee cups, the types of alternative milk they offer and, what I really appreciated, was the space. It's super covid safe! Sadly they neither stilled my appetite for either a cookie or a croissant, all I could see displayed was a granola box. There was a small display next to the coffee machine, which (as far as I could tell) had some brownies in it. I do think they do offer a lot of breakfast/brunch options, which need to be read off the menu attached to the door. I am sorry did I not pay too much attention to that one. Maybe I could have found something delicious on there.

I paid my £3.50, thanked and left, took a sip and oh wow! This was such a creamy oat latte, well done! It could have been a bit hotter referring to the coffee shot, especially as we have -1 degree today. But it kept me warm and going for a small round in the park, enjoying the fresh morning air and sunshine.

This shows, sometimes plans need to be adjusted and can still turn out nice. It definitely placed a smile on my face.

Cheers to a new coffee shop!
