News from Liverpool

Here we are now. In Liverpool. I am no longer discovering coffee shops around Clapham Junction, Common, Wandsworth, Putney - and London in general. As of Friday, 13th August (funny date, I know), I am officially living in Liverpool.

Who'd have thought? Definitely not me! But I got myself a boyfriend who was excited about a new adventure and I joined him. We shall find out together how this adventure goes and if Liverpool can keep us for 4.5 years or more.

And the adventure involves discovering coffee shops - obviously. This morning I woke up and checked some opening hours on Google and had to find out that most coffee shops around here open after 9 am/10 am. There were only a few which are opening at 8 am - one of them was Ditto Coffee.

Ditto Coffe is only a short minutes walk from our new home. It was not even 8 am when I left home, so I wandered a bit around, as I hate being the first customer when a shop has just opened. However, when I arrived there, queues were already forming and I was lucky to get a second spot in the waiting line. I kept checking my phone whether it made sense to order a drink in coffee, but when it was my turn, I decided to just order a take-away.

When we visited Liverpool a few months back, we went to Ditto Coffee the first time and had a sit-in - it was a really hot day and we sat upstairs. It was warm and sticky in this tiny coffee shop, but I loved how everything was decorated with the pictures on the wall, the music in the background, vinyl to be sold and I didn't really care. I found a coffee shop and I loved it. On today's visit, I took some more pictures and studied the shop a bit closer. I found out that it was founded by Ditto Music, a record label and on one of their visits to Melbourne they came up with the idea to create Ditto Coffee. I am glad they did, it's a fantastic shop and concept. They support local roasteries and give a platform for musicians and artists to be discovered. You can simply drop your demo tape in the "Demo Dropbox" in the shop. On Friday afternoons they also host acoustic sessions and I am keen to get to go to one of those. I am a big fan of live music and why not be a part of discovering a local artist too?

How lucky I am to have a coffee shop/music venue so close nearby. The perk of living in central Liverpool ;-)
