Two Coffees To Go, Please

I know we are in lockdown again. But small businesses need to fight. And we need to support.

With the excuse of having to return a parcel, my boyfriend and I went outside and decided to grab a coffee this afternoon. My favourite coffee shops in the area are still open because otherwise, they would need to close down. So we went to Love Tea & Coffee House.

The door was wide open, so we stepped inside, ordered coffee and cake. It was unnecessary to say we wanted it take away. This is how the world works now. You only head to the shops to get whatever you fancy for taking away. It's our turn to make our homes cosy and comfortable. Escaping an afternoon to a coffee shop is no longer an option. At least for now.

While my boyfriend put the sugar in his cappuccino and I waited for the Guinness Cake and Oreo Brownie to be packed up (we were only a bit naughty 😆😋) I asked the barista how it was going, this Lockdown 2.0. A queue started to build outside, two other couples waited until we were served. The barista looked outside, smiled and said it was quite busy yesterday and is going well so far. Hearing this I was happy, I even told him that this is good to hear. As if I am the manager 😅 But as an independent coffee shop lover and supporter, hearing that still loads of people are going outside to fulfil their coffee addiction, made me happy. Like this, those places can survive this second wave.

Having a coffee machine at home and press that button is just not the same than having a coffee freshly prepared from an experienced barista.

Obviously, I won't run outside every day to buy a coffee, as we are still in the middle of a pandemic, but now and then we should be able to do so. Mask up, fresh air, coffee and add on a walk in the park. This is how you spend the next 3 lockdown weekends. 😉
